Monty Python-Style Monopoly

I don’t think it would be a controversial opinion to state that “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” is awesome. Myself and several other nerds from all over the world can recite scenes from memory, and everyone knows the proper response to “Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?”

Now fans can go on a quest for the holy grail of their own… kind of. To be more precise, it’s a game of Monopoly. To be absolutely specific, it’s “Monty Python-opoly Version 2 Board Game.” Like any game of Monopoly, it’s played with 2-6 players, circling the board to gain more stuff than the other players. In this case, you buy hovels (there’s some lovely filth down here) and build castles, from which you can taunt the other players. Basically, you look at the board and say “One day, lad, all this will be yours.”

While the pieces do not include King Arthur, Patsy, or any of the knights of the Round Table (who dance when’er they’re able), it does include memorable figures such as the Black Knight (minus all his limbs), a large wooden rabbit, the Holy Hand Grenade, and of course, two empty halves of coconuts to bang together.

It does have some twists from regular Monopoly, though, with special powers, the ability to go search for the Holy Grail, and cards that make you act out scenes form the movie or face the dreaded Black Beast of AUGH! So yes, it is something completely different.

The game can be ordered from Entertainment Earth for $44.99, though it will not be available until August. Once it comes out, let us go to Camelot!

… On second thought, let’s not go to Camelot. ’Tis a silly place.
