Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition has been on a roll. Following the release of Rime of the Frost Maiden and Candlekeep Mysteries, we now have a new adventure to look forward to: The Wild Beyond the Witchlight.
Not only that, but D&D’s crossover with Magic: The Gathering expands further with the addition of Strixhaven, adding a new setting and player options to the game.
The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is a new adventure, set within the Feywild. Recent Unearthed Arcana playtests have included new fey-focused options, such as fairy and rabbitfolk player races, although what role they will play in this book has yet to be revealed.
According to the Amazon leak, “The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is D&D’s next big adventure storyline that brings the wicked whimsy of the Feywild to fifth edition for the first time.” The book will contain “new characters, monsters, mechanics, and story hooks suitable for players of all ages and experience levels.”
While the book won’t release until September 21, we’ll learn more about it in the next D&D Live event on July 16 and 17.
At the same time, we’ll be getting more information about the next setting book: “Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos.” This is another crossover with Magic: The Gathering, following Ravnica and Theros. In the Magic: The Gathering setting, Strixhaven is a school of mages set on the plane of Arcavios, featuring distinct colleges representing the various colors of magic.
Curriculum of Chaos is set to be released on November 16, but more information will be made available during D&D Live in July. Wizards of the Coast also previewed playtest material for Strixhaven in Unearthed Arcana, revealing five sub-classes. These add a unique twist, in that multiple casting classes can select them, rather than being restricted to a single class.
