“Pokemon Presents” Reveals New Scarlet & Violet Details

After the reveal of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet versions, The Pokemon Company was pretty quiet on news about the games. But that’s all changed with the recent “Pokemon Presents,” which revealed a plethora of new information about the upcoming additions to the Pokemon franchise.

Paldea Region

To begin with, a new video introduced the Paldea Region, where the games take place. In the game, the player characters seem to begin at a school, and can ride across the region on their respective games’ legendary Pokemon: Miraidon and Koraidon.

And yes, Koraidon and Miradon do transform into motorcycles. They also have sea and flying modes. They are all-terrain Pokemon, allowing players to fully explore the open world of Paldea.

New Pokemon

Of course, it wouldn’t be a new Pokemon game without new Pokemon to show off. While we’ve already seen a few upcoming Pokemon, like the region’s new starters, “Pokemon Presents” also introduced a few new ones:

Fidough, a fairy-type puppy Pokemon that is, as the name suggests, made of dough:

And Cetitan, an ice-type, whale-like Pokemon:

Additionally, Pokemon games have taken to including regional versions of existing Pokemon, which tend to have different types, appearances, and sometimes evolutions. In the case of the Paldea region, Wooper has taken to the land and become a poison/ground-type Pokemon:

Terestal Mechanic

Ever since Mega Evolution was introduced in Pokemon X/Y, each new generation has introduced a new battle mechanic. Pokemon Sun and Moon had Z-Moves, Pokemon Sword and Shield had Dynamax and Gigantamax, and now Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will have Terastal.

As shown in the trailer, Terastallizing Pokemon will give them a diamond-like appearance. This will also change the type of the Pokemon, depending on its Tera Type. These types can differ by Pokemon, and some can change forms based on their Tera Type.

Early Buyer Bonuses

Of course, players who buy Pokemon Scarlet or Violet early will get special bonuses. Anyone who buys the game will have access to a special Pikachu with the Flying Tera Type.

Additionally, players who purchase it from the Nintendo eShop will also receive a serial code for a set of items, including a Potion, Full Heal, Revive, Ether, Rare Candy, and Nugget.
