Old Boy Poster-Gate with Spike Lee

By now you’ve all heard of artist’s Juan Luis Garcia‘s open plea to Spike Lee concerning the theft of his original designs for the Old Boy movie campaign.  Juan, a freelance artist, says he was commissioned by an ad agency running the marketing of Spike Lee’s Oldboy to create a collection of movie postersHe delivered the proposal mock ups for the posters and they were accepted. That is just the beginning of the story, evidently after submitting his designs all went downhill from there. After being unable to come to an agreement on pay, the agency allegedly “borrowed” his designs and went their own way (image below)  You can read Bleeding Cool’s write up of that part of the story here.

Now Spike Lee has responded, if you can call it that, with a single brief Tweet:

It will be interesting to see what comes of all of this, and if these accusations have any impact on the release of Old Boy this weekend.
