Pokemon Day 2025 Reveals New Legends Z-A & Champions News

Pokemon Day 2025 is upon us, and with it, The Pokemon Company revealed news about upcoming games, shows, and TCG expansions. So, what news awaits for Pokemon fans around the globe?

Pokemon Champions

Pokemon battles have always been a major part of the series, with world championship games bringing players around the world together to see who really is the very best (like no one ever was). The newly-announced Pokemon Champions is built for battling, giving players the ability to connect and battle with other players in a new way.

Pokemon Champions is Pokemon Home compatible, allowing players to use Pokemon they’ve raised and trained in previous games. The game is also available on both mobile devices and Nintendo Switch.

Most notably, the trailer demonstrated both Mega Evolution and Terrestalization, indicating that special mechanics from multiple generations of games will be an option.

Set in Lumiose City during its urban redevelopment, Legends: Z-A has the players explore Wild Zones and the city to meet and train Pokemon. Players will stay at Hotel Z as their base of operations, run by a man named AZ and his partner, an unusual Floette. Players of Pokemon X and Y versions will recognize AZ and his Floette, as well as their tragic backstory of loss and destruction.

Players get their choice of starter Pokemon from Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile. Legends Z-A also brings back Mega Evolution, a power-up for certain Pokemon that was a unique battle mechanic in the sixth generation of games.

Most notably, Pokemon Legends: Z-A switches battles from turn-based to real-time. Trainers and their Pokemon move around during the battle, making timing and positioning key for landing hits and swapping out Pokemon
